I really, really, really wanted to write a cheery post tonight. It seems that lately all I've done is whine and complain.
But this one is kicking my butt.
It seems that the cold I had briefly a couple of weeks ago and I thought was gone just went into hiatus and then returned with a vengeance.
How is it that my head can be so stuffed up one minute that I cannot breathe, and the next minute my nose is dripping? (Sorry for the graphic description.)
And why is it that I describe it as "just" a cold?
I want it to have a more important-sounding name than that. I want it to end in -itis. Or -monia. No, no, no, I don't mean I want to BE that sick. I just want it to SOUND like I am. What a baby.
When I came in this afternoon, I told Hubby I was going to bed and wake me in an hour so I could cook dinner. Smart man that he is, he said it wouldn't be necessary to cook. He could fix himself a sandwich. Have I mentioned lately that I love that man? He did, however, allow me to grill him a sandwich when I came back downstairs an hour and a half later. So there go a few of his points. He should have been grilling ME a sandwich, but that's too close to cooking for him.
The nap did some good, though, and I was able to bake a cake so I can make cake pops tomorrow night. I really, really, really want to feel better tomorrow morning, because tomorrow afternoon is supposed to be the best weather for cycling we've had this month. And we DON'T have a bazillion interviews tomorrow afternoon.
Off to take some drugs and cross my fingers...

What's Worse.....
I feel obligated to write a blog entry every night, if for no other reason than the fact that three of my dearest family members read it regularly (thank you sister and sister and daughter).
Some nights, though, like tonight, I just want to go to bed, never mind that it's only 7:30. My body thinks it's 8:30, and by the time it gets adjusted to the "new" time, it will be time to change the clocks again.
I felt fine this morning, so apparently just whining about feeling bad is enough to render me cured. That and DJan's wise suggestion of physical activity. I figured if I felt well enough to go to school, I could darn well ride my bike home. The activity itself made me feel better and even lifted my spirits somewhat after a bummer of a day at school, but now I am wiped out.
So I don't know what's worse...
...skipping a night of writing in my blog.
...or writing a poor excuse for a blog entry just to say I did.
You decide, but be gentle with my feelings. They're sensitive right now.

Too Bad Weekends Have to End with Mondays....
It's been an awesome weekend, beginning with the kindness of a stranger on Friday night, continuing with a huge Georgia Bulldog win (over a less-than-awe-inspiring opponent, but still) on Homecoming, a 25-mile bicycle ride this morning, and capped off by an Atlanta Falcons win this afternoon.
But sometime in the middle of the afternoon, in between crocheting and doing laundry and watching football, I started feeling lousy. Nothing specific, just a general **blah** feeling. I can't even really point to where it hurts, other than my foot, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it. It's probably just the start of a cold, and I'll try not to whine about it. I haven't missed a day of school due to illness in over 7 years. I'm probably overdue.
But there's a chance I'll shake it off overnight and wake up tomorrow morning feeling no worse than I usually do on Monday mornings.
I'll cling to that hope, because it's really not a good week for me to stay out of school. Not that I'm indispensable, but there's a lot going on.
Is it too early to hope for a snow day?

The Week That Would Not End.....
Is it just me, or has this been one of the longest weeks in the history of man? It feels like an eternity ago that Katydid and I rode the tandem, and it was only 5 days ago. Seriously?
For once I don't have anything planned for tomorrow. Good thing, since I feel like crap. I must be coming down with what Hubby has had for the past couple of weeks.
And he's so sympathetic. "Stay away from me," he said.
Thanks, Romeo, where do you think I GOT IT?
Last time I wrote a blog entry about possibly being sick, I made a miraculous recovery the next day. I'm hoping it works this time too.

The Streak is Over.....
.....at least I think.
I don't think I've been sick in at least two years. I apparently have a powerful immune system, but I attribute it to the fact that I exercise EVERY DAY. I'm glad it's good for something, because it certainly isn't melting off any pounds.
And I'm not really, really sure I'm sick now.
It began yesterday morning. I had exercised, and I was getting ready for school. I hadn't eaten breakfast, but I often take something with me to eat when I get to school. Suddenly I felt extremely dizzy. Hubby blamed it on the fact that I had worked out but not eaten. It didn't really feel like a low blood sugar dizzy, though. The vertigo continued through the day, but I didn't have any other symptoms. I almost hesitate to write this part, but it's true: the vertigo is worst when I cut my eyes to the right. Not left, not up or down. Only to the right.
Naturally I still went to the gymnastics meet last night. It would take a heck of a lot more than a simple cold to keep me from going to gymnastics.
Today I've become more and more congested, and now I feel achy and possibly feverish.
This isn't the way I usually get sick. Usually I wake up one morning with a sore throat and feel like a truck has run over me.
It doesn't usually sneak up on me like this, one little symptom at a time.
I'm waiting for the big whammy. But I'm attempting to ward it off with drugs.
I'm sorry I couldn't write something more meaningful than a state-of-my-health post tonight. I'll try harder tomorrow.
